Serie A - Milan "80%" sure of landing Sheva
/2007-06-15/
Serie A - Milan president Silvio Berlusconi is highly confident Andriy Shevchenko will return to the San Siro this summer.
The Ukraine goal ace left Milan for Chelsea this time last year, but a disappointing first season in the Premiership has led to intense speculation he will soon be leaving Stamford Bridge, with the Rossoneri favourites to recapture him.
Since Shevchenko's departure from Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti has struggled to get the best out of this front line, despite his side's Champions League triumph, and is believed to be in the market for another forward.
Barcelona's Sameul Eto'o currently tops Ancelotti's wanted list, but Berlusconi admits he would rather see Shevchenko back in a Milan shirt.
"I like Eto'o as he is a young and talented player, but I am a romantic and I prefer Shevchenko," Berlusconi told the Sfoghi di Calcio television show.
"Up to a few days ago, when I spoke to [vice-president Adriano] Galliani, I thought Sheva's chances of coming back were 80 per cent.
"If things had changed and that percentage had dropped to 50 then I am sure Galliani would have told me.
"Shevchenko wants to return and his wage demands would not be a problem, as his salary would be the same as the other champions.
