Bulgaria's Ministry of Finance has submitted proposals to legalise online gaming in the country following a review of the current system which found that $440 million is being wagered illegally per year outside the 'tax net'. The new legislation would also allow the state-owned sports totalisator and lottery to enter the market and develop their online game offerings.

According to news agency Trud, the new proposals would 'considerably improve' the position of State companies, although no formal legislation has been launched.
